Peppino is a winner at the end of the movie. Sure, he never got to meet his father which is the reason why he came to America in the first place, but he did happen to meet his wife, make money, and secured a couple of jobs before leaving to go back to Italy with Rosina. He got everything that he wanted and is going back to Italy with the things that mean most to him.
ReplyDeleteIn the eyes of an American,Peppino lost because he never achieved the goal of having money or finding his father. But in the eyes of an immigrant, he is a winner because he realized that "Italy is the real America" and he went back to his country with a beautiful, talented, and wealthy woman.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexis Peppino is a winner at the end of the movie. He experienced the life here and had developed relationships with his wife and met many people. Peppino however did not end up meeting his father he did live to earn some money before returning to Italy and he did live a meaningful life of adventure and risks.
