One of the most meaningful scenes to me was the bombing that happened at the restaurant where Peppino was working at. The Black Hand made an appearance in the film, wanting to let the Italians know that they are not welcomed in the country. Peppino clueless to why they bombed the restaurant until the owner told him. The second most meaningful scene is the ending where Peppino is back at the ship that is going to Italy. He had enough of America and felt like he has saw everything that he needed to see. He thought it was time to go back home with his new wife.
ReplyDeleteFor the characters, the most convincing is Peppino. He is a sincere character who will always tell you the truth, what he is looking for, what he wants, and much more. The second most convincing character is Rosina, just like Peppino she will say what she has to say and does not matter how the words come out. The two least most convincing characters is Don Nicoline and Raplh, I felt like they were always hiding something from everyone else but themselves. They do not want others to know what is truly going on.
The two most meaningful scenes were when the homeless man pretended to be Peppino's father and when Peppino was there for Tony. The homeless man was willing to do anything to be under a roof and have some food. That represented how America actually was, it was not easy to get money or become successful. The other scene was when Peppino was there for his dying friend, Tony and got the prostitute to be Tony's last vision. He wanted to take Tony to the hospital but Tony refused and so, Peppino got a woman for him.
ReplyDeleteThe two most convincing characters were Ralph and his friend, Tony. Tony was not rich in the obvious way but lived his life in a different aspect. Tony was poor, considered a criminal because of all the bombs he plants but he does it as an activist and as an act of social justice. He was also against everything. Ralph was the symbol of what corrupt success is when an immigrant comes to America. An immigrant would most likely go to the United States with pure intentions to become successful the legal way but when that isn't happening, one will turn to orgainzed crime. These characters are not as important as Peppino but are very convincing.
The least convincing character is Peppino because he became Ralph at one point when his character was supposed to stay true to it from the beginning.
